2011/01/29: pluX Wireless Biosignals Award
Christoph Amma, Dirk Gehrig and Tanja Schultz have received the PLUX Wireless Biosignals Award for their paper "Airwriting Recognition using Wearable Motion Sensors". The award was presented by Prof. Hugo Gamboa, CEO of PLUX, on International Joint Conference on Biomedical Engineering Systems and Technologies (BIOSTEC 2011).
2010/11/24: ICSR 2010 Best Student Paper Finalist
On the International Conference on Social Robotics 2010 in Singapore, the paper "An Adaptive Information System for an Empathic Robot using EEG Data" by Dominic Heger, Felix Putze, and Tanja Schultz received the Best Student Paper Finalist award.

2010/8/31: Sucessful Lecture for Children's University (Kinderuni)
As in the past years, the Karlsruhe Children's University ended successfullly. More than 3000 children visited the lectures. The Cognitive Lab gave a presentation on the topic "Can computers read our mind?" which showcased various applications of our biosignals technologie.
The local newspaper BNN covered the lecture. Further information as well as media files may be found on the Lecture Page of the KIT.
2010/8/9: Invited Talk of Prof. Haizhou Li
Prof. Haizhou Li and Prof. Chng Eng Siong from Institute for Infocomm Research of Nanyang Technological University are visiting the Cognitive Systems Lab. Prof. Haizhou Li will give a talk about his work and the Code-Switch project. Everybody who is interested in hearing the talk is invited!

2010/12/7: Research trip and Invited Talk Dr. Dau-Cheng Lyu
Dr. Dau-Cheng Lyu from NanYang Technological University, Singapore, is visiting the Cognitive Systems Lab for 2.5 months. He will work with us particularly in the processing of code-switched language, i.e. of spoken speech which contains language changes.
Dr. Dau-Cheng Lyu gives a talk on Monday, July 12, 2010. The talk has the topic "An introduction of SEAME: a Mandarin-English Code-switching Speech Corpus in South-East Asia". Information about the talk may be found in the Abstract.

2010/6/9: Talk of Dr. Hugo Gamboa
Dr. Hugo Gamboa, founder and CEO of PLUX Biosignals, gives a talk at the CSL on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. The talk is titled "Behavioral Biometrics". Information about the talk may be found in the Abstract.

2010/5/17: Invited Talk of Dr. Florian Metze
Dr. Florian Metze, Assistant Research Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA, gave a talk with the title Properties of Probabilistic Front-Ends for ASR . Members of the Institute can find the slides under the "Institute Seminar" category in the Intranet.
